Motherhood can be a rewarding experience, but it’s not easy. If you’re going through a two-year sleep regression, it’s no fun at all! Like any other sleep regressions, the 2 year old sleep regression sucks! In the sleep department, the challenges keep changing as your baby 2-year-olds growing.

Around 8 months your baby’s sleep starts to change again. 8 month sleep regression can happen between 8, 9 & 10 months, and is related to rapid development. The 8 month sleep regression can happen anytime between 8, 9 and 10 months (which is why some also call it the 9 month sleep regression and 10 month sleep regression.) Baby Sleep Regression Chart. Your baby’s sleep cycle changes during the 4 month sleep regression. We would say prior to 3 or 4 months, babies night-time sleep cycles are 4-6 hours long, but after around 3 months, babies go through a massive development, where their sleep cycles become more organised and pronounced. Sleep regressions can last anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks and often coincide with cognitive or developmental milestones. Commonly sleep regressions tend to happen at 6 weeks, 3-4 months, 6 months, 8-10 months, 12 months, 18 months and 2 years old. Fear not, most children do not experience a full regression at each of these milestones. Just like the 9-month sleep regression, the 10-month sleep regression is really just the culmination of the 8 or 9 month sleep regression, depending on when your baby started this phase. The entire sleep regression lasts 3 to 6 weeks, on average, and some days/weeks will simply be better than others. What is the Four Month Sleep Regression? At about 3-5 months of age, our babies move from the newborn phases of sleep into more adult-like sleep stages. The Science Behind it: These sleep stages string together into “sleep cycles.” These cycles last 60 -120 minutes during the night. The end of each cycle has a characteristic mini “wake-up.” The 2-year sleep regression is enough to drive parents crazy with all of the development and changes that are occurring. In reality, it’s a very good sign! It means that your toddler’s knowledge and skills are advancing and that they are sacrificing sleep to master another skill.
