I've posted info and pictures of this mystery rifle I have on several other forums trying to find out more about it, especially who the maker might be, and thought I would try this one. It's a half-stock percussion rifle that was in my step-mom's stepfather's family for many years, and it was just passed along to me by my 91 year old Dad. It's .40 caliber as measured at the muzzle by calipers I recently received a half-stock percussion rifle from an estate sale and find conflicting information online about it. I have only been able to find one rifle that looked similar to it described as a "J.Wilt Plains Rifle". The lock has "Loomis, Dayton Ohio" engraved on it (Not "E. Loomis") and the barrel has "J.Wilt" stamped into it. Stock: Maple .
